The Praseth Mount is in a delightful situation in Makak Commune, Ang Snuol District and in Chhviang Commune, Ponhea Leu District; 24 km north of Phnom Penh. It is accessed by the National Road No. 5.
This mountain is composed of two hills, the East Hill and the West Hill. The West Hill has no story. The East Hill has its story relating to a religion and a Khmer king. It also has a large statue of the reclining Buddha reaching nirvana.
The Khmer cultural, historical site has fresh air and the magnificent scenery even though it attracts few visitors.
About 1 km away from here, a man-made cultural site is called “Phnom Reap or Prasat Vihear Suor”. Based on the style of Angkor Wat, Phnom Reap constructed of stone and cement between 1996 and 1998 cost about US$ 1 million. The money was raised from local and foreign charities by Mr. Meas Sarin.
The Phnom Reap today attracts many Cambodian and foreign tourists. It is often used as the backdrop for Cambodian videos.
