Preah Hill

The Preah Hill is located along the Mekong River, in Chhlong Commune, Chhlong District, and 34 km south of the provincial town.

The Preah Hill is 30 meters in height, boasting the shrine of the Deity worshipped by residents. Legend has it that there was a wood Buddha statue floating from Laos down the Mekong River. It got stuck at the wharf of Sela Pagoda. Laymen and laywomen found and lifted up this statue out of the water and stored it in a shrine for worship. Then, one night, residents dreamt of this Buddha statue having great charisma and telling them to take this statue to be stored in a shrine behind the hill to let them happy and prosperous. Since then, this hill has been called Preah Hill.
